Care Law and Public Sector Governance for Valleywise Health, you
will work under the direction of the Senior Vice President and
General Counsel to provide expert legal counsel relating to
employment law and general litigation management for Valleywise.
Youll be responsible for assisting Valleywise Departments with a
wide range of laws and regulations applicable to employment,
including, but not limited to, Title VII, ADEA, OWBPA, ADA, FMLA,
FLSA, the Arizona Civil Rights Act, and other state and federal
obligations. This position works with the Director of Risk
Management on evaluating claims and supervising outside counsel in
litigation involving the District. This position will also support
the Behavioral Health Department on court-ordered
evaluation/treatment and guardianship issues.The Senior
Counsel-Health Care Law and Public Sector Governance position is
expected to be a vital business partner to leaders across the
organization. As a member of the Valleywise Health Legal Services
team, you will play an essential role in researching and advising
the organization on a wide array of matters affecting the
day-to-day operations of a public health care system.Valleywise

$118,289.60 - $174,470.40This role is onsite, with the opportunity
to work remotely two (2) days a week.QualificationsEducation:Must
have graduated from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited
school of law.Experience:Requires a minimum of five (5) years of
progressively responsible legal work experience in either a law
firm, in-house legal department, or governmental entity that
demonstrates a high level of understanding of the required
knowledge, skills, and abilities.A minimum of three (3) years
experience in labor and employment law is
preferred.Certification/Licensure:Must be a member in good standing
with the State Bar of Arizona or licensed in another state and
registered and licensed to practice law in Arizona within one (1)
year of hire.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Candidates should
have a broad knowledge of federal and Arizona state employment laws
and regulations, with a minimum of (3) years of employment law and
litigation experience preferred.Must have experience handling DOL
and EEOC matters, drafting position statements, and advising on
employment policies and practices.Requires a thorough understanding
of the principles of civil law and experience in litigation
management, including, but not limited to, taking and defending
depositions, managing discovery, strategy formulation, and
assessing case value.Requires knowledge of state and federal
constitutional and statutory provisions relating to special health
care districts, state open meeting and public records laws, and
conflict of interest laws.Requires general knowledge of mental
health services laws and regulations.Manages tasks in a fast-paced,
sometimes stressful environment where priorities change quickly,
coordinates deadlines, prioritizes work demands, assigns/monitors
work (based on assignment), and supervises full-time staff.Must
communicate orally in English with employees, senior management,
the Board of Directors, and the public in group, face-to-face, and
one-to-one settings.Must have solid analytical and problem-solving
skills and utilize the appropriate management techniques to plan,
organize, control, and coordinate activities.Must manage priorities
in a dynamic environment and adapt to change quickly and
positively.Must demonstrate ability to be self-directed and
excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.Must
be able to work as a team member with peers, other managers, staff,
and senior leadership.Must possess good customer service and
communications skills, the ability to work with professionals and
