Job Title:Senior Model Risk AnalystLocation:CityScapeWhat you'll
do:Western Alliance Bank's Model Risk Management Group (MRMG) is
seeking a Senior Model Risk Analyst. The successful candidate will
report directly into the Model Risk Management Associate Director
in charge of the group's Model Governance function. The Senior
Model Risk Analyst will be responsible for making substantial
individual contributions on enhancing policies and procedures,
maintaining model and critical spreadsheet inventories, managing
issues, producing quarterly reporting, and assisting with
validation activities, as needed. Candidates should have a Master's
degree in a quantitative field and 6+ years of experience (or a PhD
and 3+ years of experience) in the financial services industry,
preferably in a risk management (or internal audit) role.
Candidates with experience validating and/or developing models and
knowledge of regulatory guidance on model risk management are
especially preferred. Strong communication skills are a must.What
we are looking for: Responsibilities
- Enhances policies and procedures related to Model Risk
Management
- Maintains Model Risk Management Group's inventories
- Leads/conducts issue management for the Model Risk Management
programs; leads/conducts testing of critical spreadsheet
controls
- Produces quarterly reporting on the state of model and critical
spreadsheet risk, including key risk indicators
- Acts as a liaison between the Model Risk Management Group and
model developers/owners, other risk management functions, and
Internal Audit
- Contributes to the enterprise-wide training on identifying,
assessing, mitigating, and monitoring model and critical
spreadsheet risk
- Keeps abreast of regulatory developments and industry trends
pertaining to model and critical spreadsheet risk
- Helps conduct validation activities (including annual reviews),
as neededQualifications
- Master's degree in a quantitative field and 6+ years of
experience in the financial services industry (or a PhD and 3+
years of experience)
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Good project management skills, with the ability to work on
multiple projects with tight deadlines
- Ability to mentor less experienced professionals
- Knowledge of Federal Reserve SR Letter 11-7
- 3+ years of experience in risk management (e.g., model risk
management, operational risk) or internal audit at a regulated
financial services institution is a plus
- Experience validating and/or developing models is a plus
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office; expertise in programming a
