Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a
Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1 years
Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants
who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A
full-time Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) is needed to
support K-12 students within a vibrant school district in the
Gilbert, AZ area. This contracted position is ideal for
professionals holding National OMS Certification, with ACVREP
certification preferred, seeking to positively impact students
independence and navigation skills. Responsibilities: Provide
specialized orientation and mobility instruction to students from
kindergarten through 12th grade. Assess students needs and develop
individualized plans to enhance their safety and confidence when
navigating school and community environments. Collaborate with
educators, families, and interdisciplinary teams to integrate
mobility goals into overall educational programming. Document
progress and maintain compliance with district and state
requirements. Utilize current best practices and assistive
technology to support students functional mobility. Qualifications
& Experience: National Certification as an Orientation and Mobility
Specialist (OMS) is required. ACVREP (Academy for Certification of
Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals) certification is
preferred. Experience working in K-12 educational settings,
preferably serving diverse student populations. Strong
communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to engage
students, families, and school staff effectively. Position Details:
Location: Gilbert, AZ (serving one or multiple schools within the
district). Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week. Contract
Duration: From ASAP through May 21, 2026. Caseload and specific
school assignments to be determined. This role offers a meaningful
