titratable drips Description: The position requires working within
a float pool that encompasses various units including ICU, MedSurg,
Tele, and PCU. Nurses will be responsible for managing patient care
in diverse settings including inpatients held in emergency
departments. The nurse-patient ratios vary by unit, with a 1:4
ratio in PCU and a 1:5-6 ratio in MedSurg Tele. Common patient
demographics include geriatric and orthopedic patients, as well as
individuals recovering from cardiac procedures. Nurses will be
required to titrate drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone,
Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin. Charge nurses will be
present on each unit and will not have assigned patient loads.
Nurse aides will be utilized in all settings to assist with patient
care. Respiratory therapy equipment available includes CPAP and
BiPAP. Telemetry services will be provided within stepdown units,
with monitor technicians available for assistance. Nurses must be
able to interpret cardiac strips. The scheduling department will
create schedules published six weeks in advance. Flexibility is
required for travelers, particularly regarding block scheduling on
night shifts. Weekend work is required every other week. Travelers
will be included in the permanent staff rotation for holiday
shifts. On shifts with excess staff, some may be placed on standby,
understanding they may be called in during their 12-hour shifts.
Assignments will be communicated via text message two hours prior
to the start of each shift. Professional scrubs in solid colors are
required until the dress code aligns with new guidelines later in
the year. A two-part orientation includes a general hospital
orientation followed by unit-specific training in both MedTele and
PCU settings. Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two
attempts prior to signing a contract; failure to achieve an 80%
score will result in a six-month do-not-use status. Candidates must
adhere to a radius rule of 50 miles and cannot have worked in the
previous year with any associated facilities. 5 Benefits of Travel
